Longo gains attention
Jeremy Longo is relatively new to the recruiting process but it's never too early for a teammate, in this case Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons' A.J. Johnson, to get in his ear about colleges.
Johnson, a 6-foot-4, 242-pound tight end who signed with UConn last week, and Longo each had big-time seasons at Cardinal Gibbons. Longo, a 6-foot-5, 217-pound defensive end, finished with 125 tackles (18 for loss) and eight sacks. UConn is the first school to offer. He is attending a junior day at Central Florida this weekend and another offer might come down.
Longo is also hearing from Pittsburgh, South Florida, Virginia and Wisconsin. Johnson was a first team all-state pick in Class 3A at defensive end and he finished with 65 tackles and five sacks. On offense, he caught five touchdown passes.
