SPECIAL OFFER: The first 25 registrants will receive a complimenteary-one-year subscription to SCVarsity.com - a $99.00 value, which is basically the cost of the showcase.?

The Blue Chip Scouting Report's one-day FALL PROSPECT SHOWCASE will be held on Sunday, November 6th in Columbia, SC for Class of 2012, 2013 and 2014 players. Class of 2015 players will be allowed in with their varsity coach's recommendation. This showcase is designed for the player who possesses the abilities to play at the collegiate level and/or beyond. All players who believe they are the caliber player to have a post-high school career in baseball would be benefited from attendance.

SCVarsity.com, sponsoring the event for Blue Chip Scouting Report, is the leader in high school sports in South Carolina, and the top media outlet for baseball coverage in the state. From profiles, team previews, game previews, game reports, player rankings, and team rankings, SCVarsity.com is second to none in our passion for coverage of baseball in this state.

Because we have been in business for more than fourteen years, we have solid relationships with college coaches, as well as an excellent communication with professional scouts in our area. Many coaches and scouts are long time subscribers and visitors to SCVarsity.com.

**The Truth About Showcases

These are facts and they are a couple of things we try to help change with out showcases.

One of the biggest myths about baseball showcases is that they actually showcase every player in attendance. That is almost never true. Most recruiters and scouts go to a Showcase with a premade list of players they want to evaluate. If you are not already on a Division I coach's list, he will not be there to watch you. Once they evaluate the few players there, they will either scatch them or keep them on their list based on what they see. Most coaches and scouts at the event, especially the DI coaches, are there to see the same handful-an-a-half of players.

The even trickier part of baseball recruiting in relationship to showcases is the distinctions in talent level. With almost every other sports, there is a clear-cut difference in the talent level between each division (ie: BCS, FCS, DII, DIII) but in baseball, the lines between division talent are blurred.

**So, How Can the Blue Chip Scouting Report Showcase Showcase Help Me?

In a single word - EXPOSURE. You will get great exposure to the large number of coaches, recruiters, and scouts who are on hand, as well as those who are not in attendance, as we make our database available (for free) to all colleges and scouts. You will be filling out a baseball data sheet when you register online. That information is put into a spread sheet and we will contact your coach and in some cases opposing coaches to talk about you. That list, with the information we've gathered, goes to the college recruiters and scouts who will be in attendance. So, if they do have a pre-made list of players they were thinking about, your prowess based on data may get you added to their "watch" list for the showcase when they otherwise would not have known anything about you.

I see advertisements all the time about some showcases touting that they had "more than 50 pros scouts and DI coaches" on hand. Guess what? That's great if you're a true pro prospect or DI prospect right now. But what about the vast majority of players in our state who are I-AA or DII or even DIII caliber players? What good does it do THAT player to be in front of "50 pro scouts and DI coaches"?

While we do coordinate with the scouting organization for MLB and let the director know which kids we have that may already be on their radar, we focus hard on getting the IAA, DII, and DIII coaches to our event. We want YOU to be seen by a program that you have a legitimate chance at playing for and possibly getting a financial package from.

And the coaches who are not there, get the written evaluations and data from the event sent to them FREE of charge.

Attendance also puts you in front of the Blue Chip Scouting Report's staff, who profiles you and your high school teams all year long, from high school season, to Legion play, to travel ball. Your profile on SCVarsity.com has critical information, including your stats from the showcase, your season statistics. All of this goes into our "round table" meetings when we begin to list our Top Players/Top Prospects list for each classification. No one in the state of South Carolina has been ranking players as long or as well as SCVarsity.com.

We also open the showcase invitation up to travel team coaches from around the state, giving you an opportunity to showcase your talents outside of a tryout with these teams.

With the recruiting business getting more competitive each year, it is vital that players get on the "radar" as soon as possible. That's why SCVarsity.com encourages freshmen, as well as sophomores and juniors, to attend.

**Varsity Challenge Games - The FUN part of the evaluation process

All players will be pre-selected based on data sheets for Varsity Challenge teams and will be guaranteed at least 2 games at the event. Some players, dependent on the number of players registered at certain positions, may be asked to participate on more than one of the teams during the Challenge event.

**FREE Recruiting Seminar - Conducted by scouts who have been in the business for more than 30 years! All parents and players will have access to a free recruiting seminar.

Because college recruiting and recruiting methods have changed drastically in recent years, old fashion ideas and methods no longer apply. We understand the modern recruiting process and we are more than happy to share this knowledge. In fact, we will conduct a recruiting seminar for free.

Some of the topics we cover are:

?NCAA recruiting rules which apply to high school student-athletes
?NCAA Eligibility Center explained
?Difference in the divisions of college athletics
?What college coaches look for in a student-athlete and when they start looking
?Academics, drugs, alcohol and character are discussed
?Scholarships and institutional funding explained related to YOUR sport
?The steps of recruiting are explained
?The role of the prospect and parents
?Q&A and open discussion
