title this season and a big part of each of those titles was the strength of their runnin

who has recruiters taking notice of his prowess on the field.
"I was pleased with the season," said Small, "but I wanted to pass my
total yards from last season, but missed it by a little."
Small (5-11, 185lbs) finished the season with 1,809 yards rushing and 20 touchdowns,
including a 164 yard/2 touchdown performance in the Class AA title game. He's a four year
starter for the Braves and has captured the attention of most of the programs around the
southeast.
"I'm getting a lot of mail," said Small. "NC State, Duke, Clemson, South
Carolina, Notre Dame, Boston College, FSU, and UNC all send me stuff regularly."
Small has definite wants in the program of his choice.
"The type of offense is big," said Small. "I want to get the most number
of touches I can get, so the offensive scheme is probably most important." Small also
says that he wants to feel good about the school community and atmosphere, as well as the
success of the program.
While Small has no offers on the table, he said that his coach, Cheraw Head Coach
Johnny White, has heard from South Carolina, Clemson, and West Virginia about the junior
running back.
His favorites right now are South Carolina, Clemson, and Boston College.
"South Carolina has a little edge," said Small, "because Cliff
(Matthews) is there. It would be great to be back on a team with him, so that's a big
plus."
But he states he likes the offense and the success of Clemson, especially the way they
use their running backs.
Small's goal for next season is to get back to the State Championship and help the
Braves three-peat. In the mean time, he wants to improve his strength and is hitting the
weight room regularly to accomplish that.
"I want to get stronger," said Small, who says his biggest strenght on the
field is his quickness and agility.
