Columbia (SC) SCVarsity.com introduced Blythewood linebacker
href="http://scvarsity.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=48961">Charles White several
months ago as one of the state's top players from the Class of 2007. With an offer in hand
from the University of Maryland, other schools are showing serious interest in the 6-0,
210lbs defensive stalwart. SCVarsity.com caught up with Charles at the Athlete's Arena for
a work out and a chat about his recruiting.
"It's all going great," said White. "I got a letter from Coach (Ralph)
Friedgen today, confirming my offer from Maryland. I'm pretty excited about that."
But Maryland has some competition on the rise for the services of White. NC State has
been calling and wants Charles to visit there, and he also got an email from Georgia Tech.
"They basically told me that the finally evaluated my film and liked what they
saw. They want me to come down so they can see me or either they'll come up here."
White is extremely ambitious and is spending all of his free time working out at
Athlete's Arena in Columbia. This particular day, he was working hard on flexibility
excercises.
"I've got to loosen up my hips," said White. "I want to be in the best
shape and condition for this Spring."
Working out is what White does for fun. That is what seperates him from some of the
other players in the state. While others are thinking about Spring Break and Proms, White
is thinking about Spring Practice and Nike Camp.
"That's what I do for fun," said White. "I just work out more and that's
about all I do. I'm focused on my goal and know what it is going to take to achieve
it."
Stay tuned to SCVarsity.com as we follow one of our top rated
linebackers through his recruiting process and his senior football season.
