The Spring Valley Vikings knocked off the third ranked Richland
Northeast Cavaliers on the road, 68-56. Paced by senior Dominique

Taylor, who finished the game as the leading scorer with 26 points, the
Vikings came from being down in the 2nd quarter by ten to just a one
point deficit at half time, 34-33. A big second half by the Vikings and
a poor shot selection by the Cavaliers in the second half led to one of
the bigger upsets in the state. Dominique Taylor was the SCVarsity.com
Game of the Week player of the game, sponsored by Brad Burdette and
Academy Mortgage.
Great Falls legedndary Coach John Smith was on the door step of win
number 900 last night when his Red Devils faced Lewisville. But coach
Smith will have to wait a few more days for that door to open, as the
Lions denied the Devils in a 57-19 blow out. Lewisville is coached by
former Gamecock great Larry Davis.
The top ranked Irmo Yellow Jackets remained perfect on the seasons as
they pummelled Lugoff-Elgin, 70-35. Irmo is now 19-0 on the season.
The Rock Hill Bearcats cruised to an 80-62 Region III-AAAA win over
Fort Mill to move to 13-5 on the season overall, with a 7-1 Region
mark; they were led by Warren Vinson with 15 points.
The Lexington Wildcats hammered Dutch Fork 73-44 in region V action.
On a night where he notched the 1,000th point of his career, Easley's
Troy McGowens drove to the basket and hit a layup with 2 seconds to go
to give Easley a 57-55 victory over the No. 2 T.L. Hanna Yellow Jackets
at Green Wave Arena. Hanna is certain to drop in the polls with their
consecutive straight loss. McGowens, who also now has more than 500
assists, finished with 20 points on the night.
2013 North-South All-Star Game this will be at Lexington High School on
Saturday, March 16. It has been about 15 years since the this game was
last in Columbia For the past six years this game has been at North
Myrtle Beach high School.

ALL-STATE FOOTBALL COMBINE
style="font-weight: bold;">
As we near the evaluation period for football,
registration is well underway for the SCVarsity.com ALL-STATE FOOTBALL
COMBINE. Because of the growing popularity
of this event, we have continued to see more than 500 players at our
events. For that reason, we are dividing the event into four separate
opportunities around the state. The Midlands Combine will be held at
Benadict College, the Upstate combine will be held at Chapman High
School, the Pee Dee Combine will be held at Darlington High School, and
we are still trying to secure a location for our lower state combine.
This division is in an effort to decrease the number of players at a
single event so that we can adequately perform evaluations and the
college coaches on hand can better evaluate players, as well. We are
limiting registration numbers, so if you are not registered, DO IT AS
SOON AS POSSIBLE. Once the event is full, we will close registration on
that event.
