North Augusta (SC) speedy WR Marcus Thurmond (6-2, 175) said he will be making an
unofficial visit to watch South Carolina play on Saturday. Thurmond saw the Gamecocks win

at UGA last weekend.
"That was one of the best atmospheres I've ever seen in college football,"
Thurmond said. "Those South Carolina fans, they were really loud at the end when the
game was over. It was an exciting game to see."
Thurmond said UGA WR coach John Eason informed him that he planned to scout the
speedster in person later this season. Before the game, Thurmond talked with Summerville
QB Reid McCollum, who has committed to South Carolina.
"Reid kept telling me that I need to 'think about South Carolina,'" Thurmond
said. "He said he would love to throw to me in college. We got to be friends at some
of the camps this past summer. He's a great guy. He's going to be a great quarterback in
college."
Thurmond has five offers, led by Maryland and Middle Tennessee State.
He has caught two TD passes in three games for North Augusta.
