(6-2, 215lbs) has watched his stock soar over the last few weeks, picking up an offer each
week. Maddox, SCVarsity.com's top running back from the Class of 2007, travelled to Auburn
this  weekend for the Tigers' junior day, but returned home Saturday to find an offer
from another big-time SEC program.
Waiting in the mailbox for Maddox when he arrived home was a personal letter from
Florida Coach Urban Meyer extending a scholarship offer from the Gators.
"We were a little surprised," said Maddox's father, Eddie Maddox. "We
kind of knew they were going to offer. Coach Strong (Charlie) has been talking to Brian. I
think they were planning on offering him on their Junior Day, April 1st, but we told them
Brian was going to be unable to attend."
Maddox will be, instead, taking the SAT on April 1st, so the Gators decided to go ahead
and pull the trigger on the offer.
Maddox has nine offers on the table now, including Florida, North Carolina, South
Carolina, Clemson, Duke, Maryland, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, and NC State.
Maddox also enjoyed the Auburn visit this weekend and expect an offer from the Tigers.
"We got to see some scrimmage," said Maddox, "and talk with Coach Price
(Terry) and the running backs' coach, Gran (Eddie)."
According to the senior Maddox, the Tigers' staff expressed serious interest in Brian
and they expect an offer from them in the future.
This past season, Maddox rushed for 1,328 yards and 21 scores, had 405 yards receiving
and two more scores, and had 360 return yards on special teams.
