Game started out pretty good with each team scoring 1 in the first
inning. A lead off walk came around to score after a stolen base and 2
passed balls. In between Gaffney starter Olivia Henson fanned the side.
In the home half Gaffney answered with a walk, steal then an RBI single
to get the run home. Both teams scoreless in the 2nd and then blue
ridge heated up their bats. Henson started the 3rd throwing well but
her defense let her down. After a few errors a walk and a single by
Gilreath back up the middle the BR 3rd baseman hit a towering 3 run
BOMB to center off a rise ball that didn't quite rise enough.
Henson got out of the inning down 4-1 after 2 ground outs back to her.
Some defensive changes by Gaffney and Blue Ridge started the 4th and it
was over. Blue Ridge got their bats going strong and never looked back.
BR has 2 quality pitchers that are totally different. They kept
Gaffney's bats in the bag tossing a combined 2 hitter and only giving
up 1 run.
If BR has a defense they can make noise in 3A. Gaffney has a long way
to go. Returning all starters I thought I would see improvements from
them. I didn't. Long season for the Indians.
Henson was clocked on three consecutive pitches at 60-61-60.
