SCVarsity Combine MVPs

The quarterback group was strong, with more than 30 quarterbacks competing in the testing and one-on-one's. While there was solid talent with standouts from each classification, it was sophomore Jacob Park of Stratford High School taking home the Quarterback MVP award.

The wide receivers' group was equally strong and the selection for the top was another close one. Hartsville's Trey Gattison and Nation Ford's Dijuan Ussary battled for the top spot, with Ussary barely edging out Gattison for the MVP honors at the position.

The running back spot was solid with talent, as well, but there was little doubt in the unanymous choice of Spring Valley's Jason Free as the Running back MVP.

The offensive line group was big, strong, and fast but in the end, the coaching staff liked Lexington's Austin Turner as the top man among the offensive trenchmen.

The defensive line spot was another unanymous choice, with Cane Bay's Terrell Davis (6-3 1/2, 236) taking the MVP award as a defensive end.

At linebacker, it was A.C. Flora's Tyeen Vereen (5-9 1/2, 189) who impressed the coaches the most and the 2013 prospect to the top honors.

The defensive back spot was another difficult position to select because of the outstanding talent competing. In the end, it was North Augusta's Devin Grimes taking the MVP award.

The camp's overall Most Valuable Player was taken by Woodruff cornerback Darius Jones. This 5-9 1/2, 171lbs corner was a lock down in one-on-ones. Even in selected match ups with the top receivers, Jones gave up zero scores and only one reception to opponents. In testing, he was one of the camp's top performers, nailing a 37 inch vertical jump, a 4.1 pro-agility shuttle, and a 4.38 40 yard dash.
