Strong Field Shaping Up For QB1 Challenge

The inaugural QB1 Quarterback Challenge is shaping up to be an extremely
strong field of talent, ensuring quality competition and presenting us with a

difficult task of ranking the state's top signal callers. There's still time to
register, so if you are a quarterback from 9th to 12th grade, don't miss this
opportunity at exposure, development, and experience in the best quarterback
camp in the country.
The senior group of quarterbacks is shaping up to be a very strong class.
Some of the players to keep a sharp eye upon are Blue Ridge's Caleb Rowe,
who has separate himself from the rest of the pack in the SCVarsity Camps and
Combines earlier this year, Greer's Reese Hannon,
who was a standout at our summer camp in 2010, and Spartanburg's Adrian Kollock,
who may be the top dual threat quarterback in the senior class, and Columbia
High's Ky Tyler,
who is one of the Midlands' top prospects. Fort Dorchester's Ethan Long
is one of the top passers in the low country and has looked great at camps last
summer and this summer. Summerville's Dalton Saunders,
who amassed 2,700 yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior, will be one to watch.
Easley's Zach Lappin is an interesting player in that he executes a
winged offensive attack, yet displayed near flawless passing execution at the
SCVarsity.com Winter Football Camp and could find himself competing for a top
spot in the rankings. Timberland's Taylor Elizondo helped lead the Wolves
to success in 2010 and has developed into a very good quarterback and should be
tough in competion.
Underclassmen we expect to do well are juniors Shaquille Johnson of
Hartsville, Camden's Josh Council, both of whom had outstanding sophomore
seasons for their respective teams. We have what may be three of the top
quarterbacks from the Class of 2014 coming in for competition and they should
push the upperclassmen hard. Byrnes' Shuler Bentley
has looked outstanding in passing league and practice this spring and summer and
will be a tough competitor in this event. Lexington's Will Hunter, who
started as a freshman for the Wildcats and put up more than 2,100 yards and
completed 57% of his passes, will be one to watch in this event. Brookland-Cayce's
Zeke Walker is a 6-2, 170lbs sophomore who has all of the tools to one of
the top quarterbacks in this class by the time he is senior. There are a couple
of freshmen that we are looking forward to seeing after looking at their
"middle school" film, but we'll have to wait and see how they do in
their first "high school" camp setting against quality competition.
Camp Testing Phase:
40 yard dash
standing broad jump
vertical jump (jump pad)
5/10/5 pro agility shuttle
Camp Performance Phase:
Mental challenge - 10 questions/scantron test
Long toss
drops
accuracy on stationary targets
accuracy on moving targets
route throws - five different routes with varying drops.
All players will be ranked in each event, receiving points based on their
rank. After all 10 of the events - testing, mental, and performance - the points
will be tallied and the QB1 winner will be named. MVP's will be named for
each grade division, but only one player will be named THE QB1.
There is still room in this camp but we are limiting it to 80 players. If you
want to develop your game, improving on the things about your game that you have
control over, and are not scared of competition, then this camp is for you.
